We are excited to announce that in 2019 we hosted the inaugural Brisbane Trail Ultra™️ and Festival. The Brisbane Trail Ultra™️ attracted over 540 entrants form all over Australia and the globe with entrants flocking to the event from Japan, Thailand, Hong Kong, China, The United Kingdom, United States of America, New Zealand, Singapore, France, Estonia, New Caledonia, Spain and Malaysia.
In our inaugural event we attracted top Australian Elite Athletes from around Australia, Kellie Emmerson (VIC), Ben Duffus (BNE), Vlad Shatrov (NSW), Stephanie Auston (NSW), Beth Cardelli (NSW), Lou Clifton (NSW), Karen Barrett (NSW), Sam Burridge (ACT), Tom Blazier (VIC), Kieran O’Brien (BNE), Jess Schluter (BNE) and Aaron Knight (VIC) all racing for awesome prizes including $1000 cash for the 110km, Red Bull Defiance Race Entry in their Hamilton Island Event 2019, 9 Dragons 50/50 race entry 2020, or a trip to Japan to race the Hakuba International Trails 2020.
The Brisbane Trail Ultra™️ marathon course was specifically designed by passionate trail lovers Shona Stephenson, David Eastman and Cora Lau to be placed amongst the most picturesque and challenging trail ultra marathons in Australia.
The Brisbane Trail Ultra™️ marathon is staged in Brisbane where locals have long enjoyed the 36000 hectares of D’Aguilar National Parks Expansive eucalyptus woodlands, subtropical rainforests and gorges all within a stone’s throw away from the vibrant city centre.

Our races aim to both test the best trail runners locally and internationally as well as allowing the fun-loving cruise runners to come out and enjoy the spoils of Brisbane’s Hinterland. The Brisbane Trail Ultra™️ is a challenging course designed with generous sections of vertical gains and losses in all three distances offered. Our premier 110km ultramarathon boasts approximately 5000m of vertical climb and descent through much of Brisbane hinterland’s surrounding trails. Our start line will be in The Gap, a leafy inner Brisbane Suburb only 8km from the Brisbane CBD. Run straight into the D’Aguilar National Park through beautiful gorges, breath-taking lookouts, around Brisbane lakes, through eucalyptus forests where you will experience stunning virgin rainforests and sweeping views of Brisbane’s woodlands, you will be rewarded with extraordinary views following demanding climbs as well as enjoying thrilling sections of descents.
We have injected more excitement into the Brisbane Trail Ultra™️ with our 2019 inclusion of the Red Bull Climb. They is a race within a race from our final check point to the top of the Pinnacles Climb, 1700m of up hill pain to win a race entry to the prestigious Red Bull Defiance race in Hamilton Island.
The addition of our road section to the Brisbane Trail Ultra™️ allows us to travel the last 8km through historic Paddington, where you will continue on and experience a hero’s welcome with large crowds cheering you on at the finish line in Brisbane’s iconic South Bank. You deserve to finish like a champion and there is no better place in Brisbane to do this than here.

The Brisbane Trail Ultra™️ is working with “Visit Queensland” and Visit Brisbane websites with some amazing Support Crew Experience ideas below. The Brisbane Trail Ultra™️ will fully support your runner with the following simple logistic measures;
Optional Bus from the finish line to the start line for the entrants so you don’t have to drive them to the start line if you don’t want to.
Drop Bags at all the major Check Points at Mount Nebo State School, Gold Creek Reservoir and JC Slaughter Falls.
You can have a stress free day enjoying the views knowing that our Brisbane Trail Ultra Team is looking after your ultra runner..

The Westin Brisbane urban wellness retreat is the Brisbane Trail Ultra Official Hotel Partner. Enjoy this inner city escape with the heavenly wellness day spa with stream rooms available to all guests. The Hotel is just a short 500m stroll across The Goodwill Bridge to our Brisbane Trail Ultra® Festival Finish line.
The Westin Brisbane 5km and 1km Kids Run
The Westin will be hosting a 1km Kids run and 5km recovery run on the Sunday after the event in July 2020. If you’d like to come along for the 5km Run we will be meeting at 9am at the Festival Finish line arch.
The Westin 1km Kids run will start at the BTU® Festival Arch at 9am on the Sunday after the BTU.
Brisbane Trail Ultra® Race Pack Collections
The Brisbane Trail Ultra Race pack collections will open on Friday before the July Event (TBC) 2020 between 12 noon and 7:30pm at our South Bank Brisbane Trail Ultra Festival Finish line.
The Brisbane Trail Ultra Safety Briefing will start at 5pm on Friday before the Race (TBC). All entrants must attend or listen to the audio the safety briefing as it contains important safety information about the event. It also contains the rules of the events and any past issues that runners have had on the course that you might find helpful for your 2020 Brisbane Trail Ultra race.
