BTU Communication

It’s not long until the Brisbane Trail Ultra. We’ve had our final meeting with QAS Ambulance, Queensland Police Special Events, QNPWS and have this information to give to you.

Please update your registration to the CORRECT Mobile Number you will be carrying with you on the course.

Please also update your Emergency Contact details. Use the link below to do this.

Please check your emails if you are not “Qualified” and send in your screenshot to team@brisbanetrailultra.earth please send it in ASAP and we will mark you off our list.

In recent weeks QNPWS have been carrying out risk mitigation burns in the park and we’d like to remind those runners who have respiratory conditions to follow their preventative plan and to carry their medication with them throughout the event.

While you are at the chemist, grab you're over the counter pain relief, like paracetamol. It’s good practice to avoid Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

What are NSAIDs? Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, also known as NSAIDs are medicines that are used to relieve pain and reduce swelling (inflammation).

Why should you avoid these when racing an ultra? Two major risks of NSAIDs use during an ultra-endurance race are the development of renal complications and exercise-associated hyponatraemia.

Be smart like Running Mums Australia founder Nicole Bunyon, and grab yourself a powerful head torch. We’ve found runners who do not have a powerful head torch are more likely to get lost. The mandatory gear list stipulates that you must have a head torch. Waist-Lamp-Belts will not be an accepted form of lighting. The best way to wear your head torch is to use one of our BTU headskinz under the band to stop it from moving whilst running.

Use this time now to download and to check your CAPRA App and make sure you have all the kit on the Mandatory Gear List. We will be doing spot tests across the course for key items like, CAPRA APP, Thermal/Base Layers, Water Proof Jacket seem, sealed with a Hood, Head Torches and High Vis Vest and any other key items across the course depending on the conditions on Race Day.

We are checking the Long Range Forecast and there is everything from Highs of 25 Degrees and rain to tops of 16 degrees and Sunny. Keep an eye on the weather, we will check it again Wednesday the 5th of July.

The biggest reason why runners DNF the BTU is because they get too cold!
